The definition of entrepreneurship is changing as society and businesses continue to be transformed by digital technology. There are new ways of finding customers, designing and offering products, and generating revenue. There are also new opportunities to collaborate with different partners on new platforms. Digital entrepreneurship is a moving target because as digital technology evolves, digital entrepreneurship will change with it.
Digital innovation also reflects the way digital information is being consumed. Information is being embedded into the functionalities of a product through the creation of digital content. The production, distribution, and consumption of digital information create new opportunities but also new threats for entrepreneurs (Sahut et al., 2021). More business owners are trying to get recognized on these new platforms but there is a digital divide between the digital “savvy” entrepreneurs and those that are struggling to go digital. Many entrepreneurs have already started their company online and have already established themselves on these platforms.
