A Bit About Me
I have severe food allergies to dairy, eggs, peanuts, and tree nuts. When I was young, I attended many FARE (Food Allergy Research & Education) conferences to help me handle my allergies. When my teacher introduced website creation in sixth grade, I was motivated to create my own website to spread food allergy awareness. I went from being inspired by presentations to becoming one of those presenters. Through Teen FAAB, I have been given the opportunity to present at numerous FARE and FAACT conferences, deliver a TEDx Talk, be featured in a Mylan food allergy campaign with Adrian Peterson, and be featured in Allergic Living Magazine and Scholastic Choice Magazine. This website is known as Teen FAAB and it has actually helped pave the path to who I am today. I discovered my passion for leadership, public speaking, graphic design, and web development.

Since the creation of Teen FAAB, I have shared my creativity and innovative mind with numerous companies. I have interned with JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation), Youth Empowerment Services, Popcorn for the People, RCAAS (Rutgers Center for Adult Autism Services), Single Throw Marketing, MEDVACON, and Rutgers Enactus. And then in 2020, I decided to expand my food allergy enterprise by creating a mobile app called The Alan App. The Alan App is a resource for those with food allergies. It has a messaging system, emergency resource, and interactive features such as allergy cards, a list of allergy-friendly brands, recipes, symptom tracker, restaurant menus, and more! As part of The Alan App, we partnered with numerous allergy-friendly brands such as OWYN and That's It. We also created an ambassador program that allowed high school and college students to be part of a community that spreads food allergy awareness.
My goal is to empower businesses through creative strategies, and help build their company. Feel free to contact me at katherineschug@gmail.com.
